How come if I want to use Microsoft Office products I have to pay nearly $200 one time for just the basics or $100 every year for everything? Why so expensive, Microsoft? Do you not make enough money being the most popular office software AND owning Minecraft, the most downloaded game? Are you really that greedy?
I say this because I'm going to be starting college soon and I figured it would probably be better to take notes on my laptop instead of on paper while in class, because it's faster to type than to handwrite things and I dont wanna be that guy that keeps asking the whole class to wait for me to finish writing. It was annoying when people did it in high school, in college they'll probably laugh me off campus and not even pause. Anyway. I was trying to figure out what the best way to take notes on a laptop would be and I realized, "hey, doesn't microsoft have a whole software for this? Sure the subscription for every single product is expensive, but you can buy things as a one time purchase, and if I'm only buying one product (onenote), one time, it shouldn't be too expensive."
Well, let me tell you dear reader. It's definitely not cheap. Apparently, you can't even buy onenote on it's own! The cheapest option to get microsoft office one time purchase style is to pay $180 for word, excel, powerrpoint, and onenote. Which like, I guess since microsoft is so well regarded or whatever they can get away with making their products expensive, and I wouldn't mind have those other products either but I wish you could just get one of them. What if I wanted to have a super sophisticated spreadsheet and I only needed Excel? Fuck me I guess! You have to buy these other three things too that you don't need! LMAO! LOL even! And its expensive too! "Bundle and save"? No no no. More like "your only option is to bundle, so we can make it cost more"!
What's 180 divided by four? Like,,, 45? So it WOULD be $45 to get just onenote, I guess. Which in my opinion is still pretty pricey? Like, I know everythings expensive these days but if I'm downloading the software onto my computer, and I'm storing all the files on my computer, I'm not even using any server space from the company, right? Just space on my computer hard drive. So I'm basically just paying for the program which has existed for years and tons of people get, so I KNOW microsofft can afford to make it cheaper. So it is just greed then! Greedy microsoft! They want to suck us all dry! They're turning me upside down and shaking me and taking the coins that fall to the ground clinking! Wouldn't it make more sense for each program to be $20? Making the bundled four cost $80? that seems more reasonable to me. Or maybe they could charge a nice even $100 for the bundle. Nice round number. If it was that price I might've actually bought it instead of typing up this pointless rant and posting it on my blog that probably nobody even looks at! I've wanted these products on my computer for SO LONG! I just hadn't figured out how to not be paying a subscription for them yet! And now that I have figured it out, It's fucking expensive!
I guess paying $180 once to have four pretty good programs on your computer forever isn't TOO terrible. I just miss when I was in school, and all the computers at school had all of these already downloaded on them, and I could use them as much as I wanted for completely free. Why can't we have that for everybody? Or maybe we could switch to like, a sliding scale? The price cahnges based on your income? Charge rich people a little extra so poor peoople can pay less? Anyway. I'm gonna go look into free onenote alternatives. Stay tuned for the next one or something.
